Furnace pressure switch hose

The small hose between the inducer housing and the pressure switch: why it matters, and which codes name it.

Updated

What it is

A small hose carries pressure from the inducer housing to the pressure switch. If it is blocked, split, pinched or disconnected, the switch cannot see the pressure the inducer makes.

Goodman (EE2), Rheem (45 and 46) and Trane (E3.2) list a blocked, pinched, cut or disconnected hose as a cause; Carrier lists obstructed pressure tubing.

How to choose

  • Inside diameter and length matter: copy the old hose or use the size your manual shows. Do not guess the size.
  • Match the material type to the original hose.

How it is tested

  • With the furnace off and cool, look for splits, kinks and pinches; the hose should be open all the way through.
  • Rheem lists water in the collector box as a separate cause, which is a technician matter.

Replacing it

  • Turn off power, pull the old hose from both nipples and fit the new hose in the same routing, with no kinks.
  • If the code returns, the cause is probably the inducer, venting or switch: call a technician.
Safety firstGas, venting, high-voltage and control-board work belongs to a licensed HVAC technician. This page is here so you can recognise the part and read a quote, not as a how-to for working on a gas appliance.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

Where to buy

These are Amazon links. Product page links go to one specific listing whose title we read on Amazon; we do not say it fits your model. Search links open search results, which change. Always confirm your model number and the part number in your manual.

Read the length and the connection on the old hose. The searches below are by part name. They are not a fit for your model.
