All furnace error codes
Every code on the site, grouped by brand. Each one comes from a named manufacturer manual. Filter by brand, code or a word from the meaning.
Carrier11 codes
Limit circuit lockout: a limit or flame rollout switch was open longer than 3 minutes. Control auto-resets after 3 hours (see code 33).
14Carrier · furnaceIgnition lockout: system failed to ignite gas and prove flame in 4 attempts. Control auto-resets after 3 hours (see code 34).
21Carrier · furnaceGas heating lockout. Control will NOT auto-reset.
22Carrier · furnaceAbnormal flame-proving signal: flame is proved while the gas valve is de-energized. Inducer runs until the fault is cleared.
23Carrier · furnacePressure switch did not open.
24Carrier · furnaceSecondary voltage (24 V) fuse is open.
31Carrier · furnaceLow (LPS) or high (HPS) pressure switch did not close or reopened.
33Carrier · furnaceLimit circuit fault: a limit or flame rollout switch is open. Becomes lockout 13 if open longer than 3 minutes.
34Carrier · furnaceIgnition proving failure: flame not sensed during trial for ignition. Control tries 3 more times before lockout 14.
45Carrier · furnaceControl circuitry lockout. Auto-resets after 1 hour.
Rapid flashingCarrier · furnaceLine voltage (115 VAC) polarity reversed. If twinned, check 24 V transformer phasing.

EE2Goodman · furnacePressure switch circuit is not closed.
EE4Goodman · furnaceFlame sensed with no call for heat.
EE0Goodman · furnaceFurnace lockout after too many ignition retries (3 total): flame failed to establish or was lost after establishment.
EE6Goodman · furnaceLow flame signal: flame sense microamp signal is minimal.
EE5Goodman · furnaceOpen fuse.
EECGoodman · furnaceGas valve is energized when it should not be.
EEAGoodman · furnacePolarity of 115 volt AC is reversed, or poor unit ground.
EEEGoodman · furnaceInternal faults or IRQ loss in control board.
EEbGoodman · furnaceGas valve is not energized when it should be.
EELGoodman · furnaceProblem with igniter circuit.
EEnGoodman · furnaceIgniter open.
Lennox9 codes
Improper main ground, OR line voltage below 90 volts. Control will not respond to a heat call until voltage rises above 95 volts.
Alternating slow flashLennox · furnaceWatchguard 1 hour: burners failed to ignite or lost flame 5 times during a single heating demand.
Board failure patternLennox · furnaceCircuit board failure or control wired incorrectly.
Red fast flash, green slow flashLennox · furnaceMain power polarity reversed. Switch line and neutral.
Red off, green slow flashLennox · furnacePressure prove switch open, OR blocked inlet/exhaust vent, OR pressure switch closed before the combustion air inducer started.
Red on, green slow flashLennox · furnaceRollout switch open, OR 12-pin connector improperly attached.
Red slow flash, green fast flashLennox · furnaceLow flame signal: measures below 1.5 microamps. Replace flame sense rod.
Red slow flash, green offLennox · furnaceFlame sensed without gas valve energized.
Red slow flash, green onLennox · furnacePrimary or secondary limit switch open. Limit must close within 3 minutes or the unit goes into 1-hour Watchguard.
Rheem14 codes
One-hour lockout, caused by repeated failed ignition (11), water sensed (59), dead blower (61), internal fault (93), flame lost 5 times (13) or unexpected flame (14).
11Rheem · furnaceFailed ignition. After four failed attempts the control enters one-hour lockout (10).
12Rheem · furnaceLow flame sense: flame sense current is weak or marginal. Furnace keeps running.
13Rheem · furnaceFlame lost after established.
14Rheem · furnaceFlame present with gas valve off. Extremely critical; furnace will not operate.
30Rheem · furnaceOpen fuse, usually from a 24 VAC short to common or ground.
33Rheem · furnaceOver-temperature (rollout) switch open: flames rolled out of the heat exchanger into the burner compartment.
44Rheem · furnaceLow pressure switch closed with inducer off.
45Rheem · furnaceLow pressure switch open with inducer on high speed.
46Rheem · furnaceLow pressure switch open with inducer on low speed.
57Rheem · furnaceHigh pressure switch open with inducer on high speed; furnace may drop to low fire.
59Rheem · furnaceWater sensed in the collector box; gas heat will not run.
60Rheem · furnaceBlower fault, blower can still run: blower at max speed/torque or temperature limit because static pressure is too high.
61Rheem · furnaceBlower fault, motor cannot run. Furnace will not operate in any mode.
