What does LG dE2 mean?
Door closed but not locked: the washer detects the door as closed, but it did not lock.
Basic checks first: jump to safe DIY steps Equipment type: washing machine
How it shows: Washer display shows dE2 (also shown as E30 on some models)
Likely causes
- Washer overloaded
- Items caught between the door and the rubber gasket
- Door latch bent or broken
How to fix dE2: safe DIY steps
- Check the door area for anything that stops the door closing securely
- Open and re-close the door
- Reset the washer: power it off, unplug it or flip the circuit breaker, press and hold START/PAUSE for 5 seconds with the power off, then restore power and try again
Safety firstUnplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) and close the water taps before you reach behind it, handle hoses or open a filter. Water left from a recent hot cycle can be very hot, so let it cool first. Never bypass the door lock. Motor, pump, valve, sensor and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
