What it is
GE (C1) lists a blocked air gap, kinked or misplaced drain hose and a clogged disposer; LG (OE) lists a pressed or bent drain hose; Samsung (5C, OC) lists a pinched or kinked hose or a missing air gap or high loop; Bosch (E24) lists a plug still in the disposal's dishwasher drain connection.
How to choose
- Use a hose of the length and fittings your manual shows.
- LG says the hose end at the dishwasher should be at least 30 cm (about 12 in) above the floor.
- Samsung says the most common installation fault is the dishwasher sitting on its own drain hose.
How it is tested
- Check the hose from the dishwasher to the sink or disposal for kinks. Bosch: if it connects to a garbage disposal, make sure the plug has been removed from the disposal's dishwasher drain connection.
- Samsung: run water in the connected sink for about 30 seconds; if it does not drain, the problem is in the home's plumbing.
Replacing it
- Switch off the dishwasher and turn off the water, put a pan and towels under the connection, replace the hose and clamp it as your manual shows.
