What does Samsung bE mean?

Button error: the control panel detects a stuck button.

How it shows: Dishwasher display shows bE (also shown as 6E on some models)

Likely causes

  • A control panel button detected as stuck, the cause Samsung gives

How to fix bE: safe DIY steps

  1. Turn off the dishwasher
  2. Touch every button on the panel
  3. Turn the dishwasher back on and check whether bE (or 6E) has cleared
Safety firstSwitch the dishwasher off at its breaker before you reach into the base or remove a filter or cover, and let the tub and water cool after a cycle. Watch for sharp debris. Pump, heater, valve and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

If any buttons are not working correctly, or the code returns after you turn the dishwasher back on, Samsung says to request service. Not the same as LG dishwasher bE: LG uses bE for a bubble (oversudsing) error, which has its own steps.
