How it shows: 7-segment display on a *CVC96 or *MVC96 two-stage furnace covered by IOG-2015L, including Amana AMVC96 and ACVC96: EE7

Amana EE7 is an igniter circuit fault and the furnace does not operate. The chart lists the igniter circuit, a misconnected or shorted igniter, poor ground, and an igniter relay fault on the integrated control module. The technician checks are the wiring to the igniter, the ground, and igniter output from the control. EE0 can be what you see later if ignition never happens. EE7 names the igniter circuit itself.

Likely causes

  • Problem with the igniter circuit
  • Improperly connected or shorted igniter
  • Poor unit ground
  • Igniter relay fault on the integrated control module

Safe checks for EE7

  1. Leave the gas valve alone. An igniter fault is not a reason to jumper the valve
  2. Techniciancheck wiring from the integrated control module to the igniter, the unit ground, and igniter output from the control
Safety firstIf you smell gas, do not touch any electrical switch or use a phone in the building; leave immediately and call your gas supplier from outside. Turn off electrical power at the furnace switch or breaker before opening any panel, and never bypass or jumper a limit, rollout or pressure switch. Gas valve, burner, venting, wiring and control-board work should be done by a licensed HVAC technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

Call a licensed HVAC technician. The chart's igniter checks are electrical.
