What does Samsung 9C1 mean?
Power supply (voltage) error: there is an irregularity in the electrical current reaching the washer.
Basic checks first: jump to safe DIY steps Equipment type: washing machine
How it shows: Washer display shows 9C1
Likely causes
- The washer shares its circuit with other loads instead of having its own
- The washer is plugged into an extension cord
- PF only: the power went out before the washer powered itself off (an outage, the washer being unplugged, or a tripped breaker)
- A washer used outside its country of origin, where power grids and regulations differ
- On some models 3E means a motor error, not a power supply error
How to fix 9C1: safe DIY steps
- Confirm the washer is on its own circuit
- Plug it straight into the wall outlet, not into an extension cord
- If PF appeared after a power cut, an unplugged cord or a tripped breaker, that is what the code is reporting: power was lost before the washer switched itself off
- If your display shows 3E, check your user manual to see whether it is a power supply error or a motor error. For a motor error Samsung's basic steps are to power off for 2 to 3 minutes, power back on and restart the cycle
- If the code continues, request Samsung service
Safety firstUnplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) and close the water taps before you reach behind it, handle hoses or open a filter. Water left from a recent hot cycle can be very hot, so let it cool first. Never bypass the door lock. Motor, pump, valve, sensor and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
