No return signal from the blower: the integrated furnace control does not see the motor answer.
Likely causes
- 4-pin motor communication connector not installed or not fully seated on the IFC
- 9-pin connector at the blower vestibule panel not seated
- 4-pin connector at the blower not seated
- Motor wiring without continuity, or a motor the chart says to replace
Safe checks for E17
- Leave the blower door on. Seating these connectors is inside the cabinet
- Techniciandisconnect power, seat the 4-pin communication connector on the IFC, the 9-pin connector at the blower vestibule panel, and the 4-pin connector at the blower. Then verify continuity of the motor wiring and replace the motor if required
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
Call a licensed HVAC technician. E17 is no return signal from the blower. If removing the 4-pin connector with power on changes the code to E17, that test belongs to E18.
