What it is
Samsung's 4C (not filling) and 4C2 (hot/cold) guidance and Whirlpool's F8 E1 (low water flow) all start with the supply hoses and valves.
How to choose
- Samsung says hot goes to hot and cold to cold (typically blue to blue and red to red).
- Samsung says not to use Flood Safe hoses with its washers, and Whirlpool says to check there are no anti-flood hoses or controls in the water line; follow your washer's manual on hose type.
- Check that the fittings match your washer and valves.
How it is tested
- Samsung: make sure the hoses are not bent or kinked and the valves are fully open. To check for debris, turn the supply valves off, disconnect the hoses at the washer, look inside the connections and carefully clean the filters.
Replacing it
- Turn off both supply valves and unplug the washer, disconnect the old hoses (a towel and pan help), fit the new ones as the hose instructions say, then open the valves slowly and check for leaks.
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
