What does GE C2 mean?

The total pump-out cycle exceeds 7 minutes.

How it shows: Dishwasher display shows C2

Likely causes

  • Total pump-out cycle ran longer than 7 minutes

How to fix C2: safe DIY steps

  1. Press RESET to stop the beep
Safety firstSwitch the dishwasher off at its breaker before you reach into the base or remove a filter or cover, and let the tub and water cool after a cycle. Watch for sharp debris. Pump, heater, valve and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

Not the same as C1, which is a pump-out during drain that exceeded 2 minutes and has air-gap, hose, and disposer checks. Not the same as C3, which is a dishwasher that will not drain and uses a 30-second breaker reset. GE's only solution on the C2 row is Press RESET to stop the beep. If C2 returns after RESET, contact GE service. The same GE page says to schedule a repair with Bodewell when a reset does not clear a code. Do not use the C1 steps on C2.
