What does LG PF mean?

Power failure: LG says PF means the power supply to the washer was interrupted during a cycle, for example by a power outage.

Basic checks first: jump to safe DIY steps Equipment type: washing machine
How it shows: Washer display shows PF

Likely causes

  • A power outage or interruption while a cycle was running, the cause LG gives
  • Power cut at the outlet or circuit breaker mid-cycle

How to fix PF: safe DIY steps

  1. Unplug the washer, or switch off the circuit breaker that supplies it
  2. While the washer has no power, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds
  3. Restore power and try to run a cycle
Safety firstUnplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) and close the water taps before you reach behind it, handle hoses or open a filter. Water left from a recent hot cycle can be very hot, so let it cool first. Never bypass the door lock. Motor, pump, valve, sensor and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

If PF keeps appearing after this reset, LG says the washer will require a repair service.
