What does LG nE mean?

The impeller is not spinning normally. LG says this can happen when the impeller does not spin or when dishes touch it.

How it shows: Dishwasher display shows nE

Likely causes

  • Dishes touching the impeller
  • The impeller not spinning

How to fix nE: safe DIY steps

  1. Reorganize the dishes so nothing touches the impeller
  2. Restart the dishwasher
  3. If nE appears again, request LG service
Safety firstSwitch the dishwasher off at its breaker before you reach into the base or remove a filter or cover, and let the tub and water cool after a cycle. Watch for sharp debris. Pump, heater, valve and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

If the error persists after the dishes are rearranged, LG says inspection by a service technician is necessary. A different LG code, LE, points to the cleaning motor and also needs a technician.
