No line voltage. The unit may appear to be operating normally, and the compressor protector may be open so the compressor and outdoor fan are off.
Likely causes
- No line voltage at the outdoor unit
Safe checks for 08
- Check the circuit breaker and the fuses. That is the first action on the 08 row. If the breaker trips again immediately, leave it off
- Technicianverify the unit is connected to the power supply as specified on the rating plate. The notes on this row say the control detects line voltage less than 185 VAC, and the fault clears if line voltage increases above 185 VAC
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
Call a licensed HVAC technician if the breaker and fuses are not the cause. On this same PCBHR104 chart, L8 is the low-line-voltage fault and its notes use the same 185 VAC sentences. 08 is labeled no line voltage. Neither number is Carrier's approximately 180 V figure.
