Brownout event: low line voltage reaching the unit. Reset time is 6 minutes.
Carrier 46 is a brownout: low line voltage reaching the unit. The LED flashes 4 short and 6 long. Reset time is 6 minutes. Causes are low line voltage, a bad connection on L1 and L2, and the inverter not reading voltage properly. Both steps are technician steps. The manual says to check for line voltage of more than approximately 180 V, and to contact the power provider if the reading stays under that and persists. Then check the connections on the line side and the load side. If nothing else is found, replace the inverter. Code 46 does not use the coil checks from 31 or 32, and it is not a homeowner meter job.
Likely causes
- Low line voltage
- Bad connection on L1 and L2
- Inverter not reading proper voltage
Safe checks for 46
- Techniciancheck for line voltage of more than approximately 180 V; if it is less than 180 V and persists, contact the power provider
- Techniciancheck the connections on the line and load side; if nothing else is found, replace the inverter
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
