No ignition: the heater is not turning on.
Rinnai code 11 in the N-series with-pump manual is no ignition: the heater is not turning on. The owner lines are gas on at the heater, meter or cylinder, and gas in a propane tank. Code 12 is no flame and repeats the gas checks, then hands the flame rod to a technician. Code 10 is an air-supply or exhaust blockage, or a full condensate trap.
Likely causes
- Gas shut off at the water heater, the meter, or the propane cylinder
- Propane tank empty
Safe checks for 11
- Check that the gas is turned on at the water heater, the meter, or the cylinder
- If the system is propane, make sure there is gas in the tank
- If other gas appliances in the house will not light either, call the gas supplier from outside
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
If the gas is on and code 11 remains, stop. Rinnai's remaining checks (inlet gas pressure, bleeding air from the gas line, the PC board ground, the flame rod, the igniter, the gas solenoid valves and the orifice) are marked for a qualified professional.
