What does Whirlpool F0 E5 mean?
Off balance: an unbalanced load can lengthen the cycle and leave clothes dripping.
Basic checks first: jump to safe DIY steps Equipment type: washing machine
How it shows: Front-load washer display shows F0 E5
Likely causes
- Washer overloaded so clothes cannot move freely
- A bulky item washed by itself
How to fix F0 E5: safe DIY steps
- If the load is not dripping wet, Whirlpool says the cycle finished and only took longer to balance. No action is needed
- If the load is dripping, take a few items out so the rest can move freely, and run a Drain & Spin cycle
- Do not wash one bulky item alone. Add a few extra garments to a rug or a jeans jacket, then run Drain & Spin
Safety firstUnplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) and close the water taps before you reach behind it, handle hoses or open a filter. Water left from a recent hot cycle can be very hot, so let it cool first. Never bypass the door lock. Motor, pump, valve, sensor and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
If F0 E5 keeps returning on a normal mixed load, contact Whirlpool or schedule service. This code is the off-balance fault, not the slow-drain code F9 E1.
