How it shows: Front-load washer display shows LOC or LC

Likely causes

  • Control Lock was activated

How to fix LOC: safe DIY steps

  1. Touch the Control Lock button. On older models, use the button your owner's manual names for control lock
  2. Some models need that button pressed and held
Safety firstUnplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) and close the water taps before you reach behind it, handle hoses or open a filter. Water left from a recent hot cycle can be very hot, so let it cool first. Never bypass the door lock. Motor, pump, valve, sensor and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

If LOC or LC will not clear after the Control Lock press your model uses, contact Whirlpool. It is not the door-lock code F5 E2.
