What does Bosch E14 mean?

Flow meter failure: Bosch says E14 indicates a flow meter failure or an issue with water flowing into the dishwasher or the filling system.

How it shows: Dishwasher display shows E14

Likely causes

  • A failed flow meter, the part that measures water coming into the dishwasher
  • A problem with water flowing in, or with the filling system

Safe checks for E14

  1. Bosch gives no homeowner fix for E14: its only step is to contact Bosch Customer Support (1-800-944-2904)
  2. Have your dishwasher model number ready before you call, as Bosch asks
  3. Not the same as E16/E17 or E18: those are Bosch fill codes that come with homeowner checks, while E14 does not
Safety firstSwitch the dishwasher off at its breaker before you reach into the base or remove a filter or cover, and let the tub and water cool after a cycle. Watch for sharp debris. Pump, heater, valve and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

Bosch routes E14 straight to Bosch Customer Support. The flow meter sits in the dishwasher's fill system, so a failed one is technician work.
