What does Bosch E09 mean?
Heat pump internal heater fault.
Basic checks first: jump to safe DIY steps Equipment type: dishwasher
How it shows: Dishwasher display shows E09
Bosch writes E09 and E20 with the same sentence: a heat pump internal heater fault. Both get a 30-second breaker reset, then Customer Support. E12 is limescale in the heat pump and uses a descaler. E21 is a blocked heat pump. E01 is the heat pump motor circuit at the main control board.
Likely causes
- Heat pump internal heater fault
How to fix E09: safe DIY steps
- Reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on
- If E09 is still there, call Bosch Customer Support at 1-800-944-2904 with the model number
Safety firstSwitch the dishwasher off at its breaker before you reach into the base or remove a filter or cover, and let the tub and water cool after a cycle. Watch for sharp debris. Pump, heater, valve and control-board repairs belong to a qualified appliance technician.
Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.
When to call a pro
Bosch uses the same sentence for E20. E09 is not E12. E12 is limescale in the heat pump and the step is to descale. Do not descale E09 in place of the reset Bosch lists.
