Status code25Bryant
What does Bryant 25 mean?

Model selection or setup error. The model plug PL4 is missing or incorrect, or setup switch SW1-1 or SW1-6 is in the wrong position. If 25 flashes only four times at power-up, the control is using the model stored in memory.

How it shows: Amber LED on a Bryant 80% two-stage variable-speed furnace (troubleshooting guide TG-GFB80-02). Short flashes are the first digit and long flashes are the second. Code 25 is 2 short and 5 long

Bryant furnace 25 is a model-selection or setup error on the 80% two-stage chart, not a pressure code. Four flashes at power-up means the model plug is missing and the control is using the model stored in memory. Continuous 25 means the plug is missing or wrong, a heat or cool call is present with SW1-1 or SW1-6 on, both of those switches are on together, or two different models are twinned. Bryant heat pump 25 is a different fault, on the outdoor amber LED.

Same characters, different appliance: Bryant 25 on an AC / heat pump is a different fault. Bryant AC / heat pump 25.

Likely causes

  • Model plug PL4 missing or incorrect
  • A heating or cooling call is present while SW1-1 is ON
  • A heating or cooling call is present while SW1-6 is ON
  • SW1-1 and SW1-6 are both ON
  • Two different furnace models are twinned

Safe checks for 25

  1. Count whether 25 flashes four times and stops, or keeps flashing. Four times means the control defaulted to the stored model. Continuous flashing is the rest of the list
  2. Turn SW1-1 off after you finish reading stored codes. The recall procedure in this guide uses SW1-1, and leaving it on is one cause of code 25
  3. Techniciancompare the model plug number and resistance with the wiring diagram
Safety firstIf you smell gas, do not touch any electrical switch or use a phone in the building; leave immediately and call your gas supplier from outside. Turn off electrical power at the furnace switch or breaker before opening any panel, and never bypass or jumper a limit, rollout or pressure switch. Gas valve, burner, venting, wiring and control-board work should be done by a licensed HVAC technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

Call a licensed HVAC technician if 25 keeps flashing after the setup switches are off and the model plug is seated. Do not twin two different models.
