What does Mitsubishi 2 blinks mean?

Indoor coil or room thermistor fault: the sensor is shorted or open. The left lamp blinks twice, then pauses 2.5 seconds.

How it shows: MSZ-FS06NA through MSZ-FS18NA. Left operation-indicator lamp: 2 blinks, then 2.5 seconds off. This is troubleshooting table 9-4, the pattern shown when the fault is first detected. Failure-mode recall uses a different count.

Likely causes

  • Indoor coil thermistor short or open
  • Room temperature thermistor short or open

Safe checks for 2 blinks

  1. Count two full cycles of the left lamp and write the pattern down, then switch off the breaker and the outdoor disconnect
  2. Do not open the indoor unit. The manual's check is the thermistor characteristic chart, which is a technician measurement
Safety firstIndoor and outdoor mini-split units carry line voltage even when the remote is off. Switch off the outdoor disconnect and the breaker before you touch the unit, and do not open either cabinet. Refrigerant, wiring and control-board work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

Two blinks on table 9-4 are the indoor sensors. They are not the outdoor thermistors (6 blinks) and not the recall-mode count. Call a licensed HVAC technician.
