Status codeEADaikin
What does Daikin EA mean?

Four-way valve abnormality: room temperature and indoor coil temperature stay out of range for the mode.

How it shows: Service-check code EA on an ARC466 remote for FTX30NVJU or FTX36NVJU.

Likely causes

  • Four-way valve coil disconnected
  • Defective four-way valve, coil, or harness
  • Defective outdoor unit PCB

Safe checks for EA

  1. Leave the unit off at the disconnect and the breaker. A four-way valve is in the refrigerant circuit
  2. Do not open service valves or add refrigerant
Safety firstIndoor and outdoor mini-split units carry line voltage even when the remote is off. Switch off the outdoor disconnect and the breaker before you touch the unit, and do not open either cabinet. Refrigerant, wiring and control-board work must be done by a licensed HVAC technician.

Capacitors can hold a charge after the power is off. Safety terms.

When to call a pro

EA is not a filter code and not U4. The valve, coil and outdoor board are licensed HVAC work.
